Welcome to the Hoque Family Website- a collection of photos and information

Hello and Welcome to the Hoque Family. If you are researching your Family Genealogy and have realized you might be related to us, well, that's OK. This site is centered around my Great, Great Grandfather, Francis Marion Hoque. Here, in the future we will be updating information and pictures of the Family members before and after F.M. Hoque.

The Hoque Surname

The Hoque Surname: Well if you grew up with this name you have been wondering your whole life where it came from, well at least I did. My Grandfather always told me it was French. I have not proved that yet, but through other family members and research have found it to actually be HOGUE, well at least recently, about 1875. We are still researching past that.

Hoque Family History

James M. Hogue born approx in 1805 in South Carolina is as far back as I can trace right now. We have recently just found his death information in Santa Cruz County, CA. Aug 13th, 1884. He was living with his son, Francis Marion Hoque. We have not found any solid evidence in SC to date. James and his wife Elizabeth moved from SC to Ray County, MO around 1837. He bought into government lands there and farmed according to most records until he moved with his son, Francis Marion Hoque to California in 1875 to San Louis Obispo County. In the 1880 for that area they are listed in the San Jose Township, which is today called Pozo.

Researching James Hogue

This is the main project of this website! James Hogue, who is the Father to F. M. Hoque has left a few loose ends. We know he was born in South Carolina in around 1805 and is shown in the MO. census in 1840 but so far he has eluded us. Any information or leads to answer this question is appreciated.
